Abstract:
Two species of Bacillus producing thermo-stable amylase
enzyme were isolated from Sudanese soils. They were identified
as B. subtilis SUDK3 and B. circulans SUDK7. Both species
recorded maximum amylase production at 50 oC after 24h of
growth in a medium containing 1% malt extract, 5m M Mg++ ions
and 0.05% and 0.2% soluble starch for B. subtilis SUDK3 and B.
circulans SUDK7 respectivly. The optimum pH for production of the
enzyme was 7.0 for B. subtilis and 9.0 for B. circulans
